Book III has sixty-four (4x4x4) verses, sixteen sections of four verses each.
Each section covers a new topic from Jesus’ life and ministry; his passion gets two sections. (Tip: If you want to get above the world and stay there, think about Jesus’ death.)
It took four years to write Book III and another fifteen years to develop the skill and knowledge to finish it.

References are provided for looking more deeply into a truth or for looking at a similar truth from a different angle. Quotes that pop up link to the, where you can choose among many versions of the Bible.
Topics labeled “Word search: ____” have too many references to cite. Enter the word(s) at or for further study.
If the references don’t work (don’t show up blue), hit refresh (command/r).
Spirit of Fire is an original work that came out of meditation on the truth behind the words of scripture — after decades of study and practice. (It is not a paraphrase of the Bible.) So, the connection between text and reference may not always be obvious.

Answers to the questions may be found in the text.
(Questions in parentheses may not be answered but are worth pondering.)

Christ (Greek “Khristos”) and Messiah (Hebrew “Mashiach”) both mean “Anointed” or “anointing.” In ancient Israel, people were anointed to act as king, prophet or priest. Jesus is all three.
The anointing is a special power that is on him to do his work. Jesus himself announced what he was anointed to do, quoting the prophet Isaiah:
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and recovery of sight for the blind — to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor…”
This power, this anointing, comes on you as you consider Jesus or his anointing; this is the purpose of this book. (It’s called “the anointing” because it often feels something like fresh oil pouring over you.)
Exchange of names and possessions is one of the essential elements of the blood covenant. See the essay on “Covenant.”

Because of Jesus’ death, in him we are free from our human destiny to live the life described in Romans 8:1-17 and Ephesians 2:4-7. (In ourselves we are as helpless as ever.)
Thinking deeply about Jesus’ death separates you from your human destiny. You live in him in your everyday experience instead of in whatever society is dishing out.
Don’t believe it? Keep thinking about Jesus’ death and watch what happens.

The connection between his blood and his love: If I know that his blood makes me acceptable before God (righteous) then I am free from condemnation. It’s my own sense of condemnation that forces me to judge others; when I’m free from condemnation by meditating on the power of his blood, I leave all judgment of others to God, whose judgment is based on truth (unlike my human judgments, which are based on appearances). With all judgment out of the picture there’s nothing left but to love everyone equally, regardless of their behavior. This is Jesus’ love.

Impossible to live like this? Not if you’re willing, at any cost, to disregard the bogus demands of peer pressure.
